A sustainable approach to energy policy is one of the keys to preserving our quality of life. Climate change and energy security are closely linked. Preventing climate change from spiraling requires a paradigm shift in the way we produce and use energy over the coming decades. This will in turn require significant investment in technology. The challenge for policy makers is how to make this happen. In the true spirit of sustainable development, leaders in the developed and developing worlds alike need to consider this transition in a broader environmental and developmental perspective.

On May 6th 2008 during the UN Meetings of the Commission on Sustainable Development, ICCA, the EU Association & Deloitte EuroNet together with the South Asian Affinity Group, the Asian American Alliance and The European Society at NYU Stern School of Business offered the opportunity to hear from high level officials about sustainable development policies in Eurasia, home to the greatest portion of the global population and the highest economic growth.

The informative event was organized at the World Financial Center and was aimed at increasing business sensitivity on the necessity to ensure sustainable development on a global scale. Participants included senior representatives from the Delegation of the EU Commission to the UN & major EU Eurasian partners that included the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the UN the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN as well as the Russian Federation Trade Office in the US.
